Everything You Need To Know About NASCAR
Is
A NASCAR Scanner Worth The Purchase?
While NASCAR scanners are great accessories to your NASCAR
experience, they are not a necessity for the average fan.
Of course, for the die-hard fan, a scanner is the
only way to get the real inside info on the race, so die-hard fans
really need a scanner. Probably, if you are a die-hard fan,
you don’t need advice to buy a scanner; you probably already
have one, or at least you know you will buy one and just
would like to know which one is a good one to buy. If you’re
not a super die-hard fan of NASCAR, read on, you will find
the ins and outs of having a NASCAR scanner.
A NASCAR scanner is really the only way to know exactly what
is happening on the racetrack. Anyone who’s doing play-by-play
on the television or on the radio has to listen to the scanner
in order to understand what’s happening on the track. Of course,
from watching the cars alone, speculations can be made about
what is happening in the race, but only through the scanner
can one know exactly why a car swerved suddenly into a wall.
You might think, from watching alone, that a tire burst on
the car, but the scanner will tell you that actually the driver
passed out.
Of course, this information will be public soon enough, but
you can hear it as it’s happening. As soon as the team knows
something, you will hear them talking about it on the scanner.
If you’re a NASCAR fan who wants the news straight from the
source and not after it’s been filtered for the public, then
a scanner is your best bet. On the other hand, so many NASCAR
fans now have scanners that nothing secret is being said over
the scanner. However, between the various scanner frequencies,
there’s much more information to be had over the scanner than
can be seen through the television.
An
important consideration before buying a scanner is in how
often you will use it. If you use it every week, it’s probably
worth the investment. Although costly, scanners cost about
the same as an MP3 player and less than an iPOD and less than
a gaming platform. IF compared this way, the price for a NASCAR
scanner is not unreasonable. In today’s economy, people are
paying similar and higher prices than that of the scanner for
other entertainment, gaming and sporting needs. In the big
picture, the scanner fits well, the real question is how important
it is to you. If you’re a real NASCAR fan, go ahead and get
a scanner. It will increase your involvement in races and allow
you to enjoy the race even more (perhaps you didn’t think that
was possible).
Once
you’ve decided to go ahead and buy a scanner, you should
carefully consider the options in scanners that are currently
available.
There are many scanners
from which to choose and they do not have similar price tags—some
being double the price of others. If price is part of your
buying selection, compare them by price and go from there.
If price is not an issue for you then you can compare them
by technical specifications. Some scanners have many more frequencies
than others and some scanners weigh a great deal less than
others and have a longer battery life. In addition, some scanners
have an FM radio capability that can be used when it’s not
time for a race. In this way, you can make your scanner also
your musical companion for your morning runs, eliminating the
need to have a second device.
Additionally, there are cosmetic factors to consider. Some
scanners are much more fun than others with colorful headsets
(of course labeled with NASCAR) and ways to display your favorite
driver.
